It Isn't Pretty

Six weeks of no rain. It's an official drought.

Two weeks of daytime highs around 100 degrees. Yesterday Kalamazoo set a new record for the day, 105 degrees.

The grass is brown.

The dogs and I are not taking our usual walks in the back three acres because 1) it's too hot 2) the deer flies are swarming and hungry for human blood.

There is fruit on the blackberry stems in the back three acres. How do I know if I don't walk out there? The birds leave the evidence on my car.

I'm so sorry you are having this oppressive heat wave. I hope it cools of soon and you get some rain.

We've had the opposite problem. So much rain my plants are drowning, the rivers are flooding, and it's been cold. I wish we could combine our weather for a happy medium.

I just walked around in the kiddy-pool in our backyard. This involved walking around my husband. The pool is for the grandkids, who are on vacation in St. Louis. This is OPPRESSIVE heat. The only thing good about it is that it doesn't need to be shoveled.

I washed my car, came inside the house, went back outside 15 seconds later and the birds did their business again. This has happened to me 3 times already - I give up. Sorry you have to put up with such heat - all of you - I don't like winter but I'd certainly take it over the heat (that's saying something for me). Stay safe.
