Wednesday Wings - Late Summer Bluebird Nest
The first bluebird nests of the season in spring normally have five eggs. With late season nests like this one my bluebirds have always stopped at four.
So four it is. As of tomorrow they're one week into the incubation period. Hatching will be on or about Thursday, August 5.
Mama Bluebird takes the occasional break on the power lines.
Daddy Bluebird proudly sits on the nest box happy that he doesn't have to sit on those eggs for two weeks.

I am so in awe of your bluebird population. Time was we had them in our back yard, but that was before new subdivisions took up all the open fields. Now we only see them occasionally, never nesting. The wrens have taken over all the boxes. It's amazing that you can open the box, touch the nesting materials and they don't mind.
Great photos!
Hope the little birdies hatch soon!
Love those photos! It's a good thing that Daddy Blubird isn't a penguin, isn't it? I put some WA blackberryies on my blog for you....
No comments? I can hardly blog, too!
Your bluebird nest is wonderful to watch. And a little knitting project would soothe the heat away, I'm sure!
Oh cool that you are having more babies!!! Can't wait to see them born!!
The eggs are so pretty and I love being able to see the parents too.
