Monday Musings for February 15

It's lightly snowing.

I have to admit by the middle of February each and every snowflake is unwelcome and my attitude toward winter stinks it's rather pretty.

Might you guess that this comic, Speedbump, is created by someone from Michigan?

Last week I wore my newly knit Hedonist Cardinal Socks for the first time. The 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon was just as soft as cozy as imagined. I enjoyed having them on my feet.

The yarn is so soft that I wasn't surprised when it pilled on the feet and heels.

I so wish I had knit something besides socks with this wonderful yarn. It's just too soft and nice to wear inside shoes.

  2. The red yarn is so beautiful, if you could get more it would make a beautiful cowl. I sent you a couple of photos. Your wildlife photos are incredible and I enjoy them very much.

  3. Great cartoon! That's how we feel at this time of year in Canada too. I agree that it's not surprising that the soft socks pill. It would be a good yarn for bed socks or for someone who is ill. Lovely and decadent. I think I have some of that base yarn in my "to dye" stash so I'm glad you posted your experience with it.

  4. When we lived in Alaska it seemed as if the winter would never end. Here on the island we tend to get fairly early springs and I love that! I'm sure your feet love the beautiful soft yarn.

  5. I had the same problem with a pair of newly knitted socks. I was so upset & have not wore them since.

  6. Love your new blog and admire your skills. The picture of your fab socks tells me exactly what I wanted to know about using yarn with cashmere - my super-sensitive-footed husband will be properly pampered with a pair. Thank you so much, sorry to hear about that flakey stuff starting to wear thin.

  8. If you don't mind the purling back and forth, I've knitted sort-of-intarsia socks with the tougher yarn on the sole and the pretty soft yarn on the top of the foot.
