These socks have been sitting in the back room without toes for two months. Inspired to action by notification of a Slackford Studio yarn shipment headed my way for Brother Dave and Karen's Christmas knitting, I picked them up and finished them last night.
It felt good to knit again.
No, I do not need another pair of socks. I seem to collect socks like other knitters collect stash. This is only depressing because I have enough socks to last the rest of my life with many left over and no excuse to knit more. But I did anyway. And I'm looking forward to knitting socks for other people now.
Pattern: BFF by Cookie A. 56 stitch size.
Yarn: Stalwart Sock Yarn from Slackford Studio
Color: Cote d'Azur.
Needles: Options 2.50mm circulars.
Gauge: 8 stitches/inch, 10 rows/inch in stockinette.

Socks and dishcloths have been a constant knit for me since Tim died. Mindless enough to be goof-proof but still requiring enough attention to distract me. I'm glad to see you're knitting again. I pray it helps you as much as it's helping me.

Beautiful socks! I haven't reached that stage with my socks yet, but imagine I will eventually. As much as we hate to think of our hand knit socks wearing out, sometimes it would be better if they did so we wouldn't feel bad about the never-ending supply coming off our needles.
These BFFs are beautiful! I love blue. I like that pattern, too. It's easy, yet interesting, and the finished product is great. I also have more socks than I need, but it's hard to stop knitting them. (I enjoy it so much!) At this point, I try to make more for gifts than for myself, but sometimes there's a special color or pattern that I just "have" to have.
We have recently moved from California back to Oregon, so now I'm working on a sweater!
It makes me happy to know that you knit again...it's like an old friend welcoming you back, isn't it? If you find yourself oversocked, I have found that they make great charity items, and I know you have done piles of charity knitting for children. Socks have fetched good prices at auctions, in my experience, so that's always a nice option--unless you simply want my mailing address. ;)

FrontierProvince. They do literacy with a nomadic group and actually sometimes do the nomad thing with them (bringing along their two little tiny children with them. Quite the adventures!) It gets cold there in the winter. I could send you their address if you were interested.
