Nestbox Report

Two of my four nest boxes have been claimed.

I'm always pleased to see the Bluebirds sitting near a nestbox. This male was helping build a nice grass nest inside.

Wednesday there were three eggs. Yesterday four. Still four this morning, so I think they decided quadruplets was enough for the first nesting.

If all goes well, hatching will be May 19.

On the other side of the field, Tree Swallows have finished their nest and are aggressively guarding the box. No eggs yet but probably tomorrow.

  1. Hi! I fooled this computer into accepting this comment. So, I will just repeat what I told you in an e mail: your blog with those beautiful birds - bluebirds and orioles -is such a pleasure. I wish there were a book of your blogs/birds. Socks, too, the lovely pairs created by you are a treat to see and to wear! Thank you for all of it.

  4. My blue birds are on their second nest. It's right in line with my spot for knitting and I love watching them come and go with their nest building materials, and then worms and bugs. I've really had some beautiful birds this summer. You are a great inspiration!

  5. You have such pretty birds at your place! We seem to specialize in little brown ones with a few towhees and juncos. Oh, and flickers and of course, crows, and robins.
