Sprout Swatch
I received a subscription to Creative Knitting for Christmas. After receiving two issues, I give it a thumbs up for simple, wearable knit patterns. Most are in a gauge range I like to knit, 5 to 6 stitches/inch.
I'm ready to knit something simple and springy that is going to fit, so I ordered Knitpicks Cotlin, a DK weight 70% Tanguis cotton 30% linen yarn. The color is called Sprout, a summery green.
The swatch is done and washed. As soon as I finish Carrie's socks I'll be casting on this sweater. It could happen this evening if I stay up later than I should.
I have one Cotlin sweater I wear often. It was pleasant to knit, comfortable to wear, easy to wash, and it is not pilling.
Assuming I'm still in easy knitting mode when the green sweater is done, this pattern is next up. Also from Creative Knitting.
A wet robin. He just finished a bath in the creek.
Ohhhh - I like both of those sweaters! There are so many knitting magazines out there anymore...it's hard to know what's worthwhile and what is not. So - thanks for the "thumbs up" on this one.
ReplyDeleteThose are two nice patterns, Marguerite. I especially like the turquoise one...neat fastenings, too. That robin looks COLD!
ReplyDeleteI like that green for your sweater. I used to get a subscription to that magazine as well and really liked it. I even have a bunch of back issues. I stopped getting it because I wasn't knitting sweaters and don't really have the time right now.
ReplyDeleteI agree, this magazine consistently has knittable/wearable patterns. I'm currently knitting the Vines and Leaf cardigan and am enjoying it thoroughly
ReplyDeleteThat green just feeds the soul! I can't wait to see your sweater.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of pattern & yarn. Happy knitting.
ReplyDeleteMarguerite, I thought of you today. I was sitting out back taking advantage of the natural light to do a bit of embroidery and two robins flew down to the ground very close to me. I sat very still and got to watch them closely for awhile. Both your new sweaters should turn out great.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about CotLin. I've always wondered how it would hold up. What issue is the second sweater from?
